2016 Garden Through the Seasons

Or, as I like to put it, The Art of Gardners Through the Ages (art school joke…)

Water Table Hole

Water Table Hole

Well the water table is definitely up now. This whole area is squishy with the melt water that flows down from the neighbours field just beyond the rise in the background. Last year I found out the hard way that this area stays wet […]

Willows In the Snow

Willows In the Snow

The weather has been above freezing for several days so I thought I’d go out to the land to check up on things. These willow trees were planted earlier this year. This is down in the low spot by the creek. There’s an area of about 2 acres that gets real wet in the winter and stays that way through most of the summer.

I was thinking willows would be happy with all the water and maybe they’ll even help to dry things up a bit. So far we’ve planted about 100 willows down here and another 60 or so up by the vegetable gardens on line 10. The ones up there are more shrubby and selected because they are popular among basket weavers and other artists using natural materials. I hop to be a supplier of such things some day.

A Beautiful Low Color Saturation Day

A Beautiful Low Color Saturation Day

I love these winter days when the colors are so muted. I love our trailer too. Put them together and you get this. Some day I’ll get some time to work on the inside so we can begin to spend some overnights in it.
